How does workers’ compensation work?
Workers’ compensation covers your medical expenses and wage loss when you’re injured at work. Not every company offers workers’ compensation. For example, riverboat and railroad companies do not have this type of insurance. Instead, The Jones Act insures riverboat employees while Federal Employers Liability Act covers railroad workers.
What is the difference between workers’ compensation and The Jones Act and FELA?
The main difference is unlimited recovery. Workers’ compensation only offers you a certain amount for your recovery whereas The Jones Act and FELA can compensate you for any amount. However, there are certain types of treatment that may not qualify. Our attorneys can help you determine whether you are eligible.
What can I be compensated for?
If your claim is successfully filed, you may be entitled to receive compensation for: medical bills, treatment, wage loss, reduced earning capacity, and disability.
